July Hip-Hop Review

For the month of July we had the luck of listening to DJ Mustard's album, Mustard. The album had a west coast vibe with the intro taking me back to 90s r&b, sounding a little like the band Boys to Men. Although I didn't like One Take Jay's rapping, which sounds like Rapper Blueface, the intro was still a great song to vibe to. Mustard has feature artist like Roddy more »

June Hip Hop Music Review

For the month of June, I saw music from Canadian rap Drake releasing two songs, "Money in The Grave," which had beats of an old school rap song for the 90s and a decent song in "Omerta." CrasH Talk

Getting old in hip hop is rarely considered good. More often than not, new rappers seek to gain attention, fame, and dominate the charts in a way they claim their predecessors couldn’t. Occasionally though, we get to see an artist truly find their footing with age. ScHoolboy Q shows that being a 32 year old hip hop artist isn’t old or irrelevant. The L.A. rapper shows that his desires with more »

Fly Times, Vol. 1: The Good Fly Young

If you look up Wiz Khalifa on Spotify, his number one song is See You Again, which he released all the way back in 2015. Everybody knows who the rapper is, but most of his music hasn’t been wildly successful. (We aren't counting his features here). Let’s be clear though. I’m not saying Wiz Khalifa isn’t talented. He’s an artist with a lot of potential. His voice on a track more »
