Golden Knights Host Fan Appreciation Week to Close Regular Season

The Vegas Golden Knights finished up a 3 game homestand that concludes their home schedule for season 5’s regular season. The Golden Knights finished the 3-game stand with a record of 1-1-1 with the last two games being instant classics and ones the fans in attendance will remember for the whole offseason possibly.
In the first game of the week, the Knights played host to the New Jersey Devils. As the beginning of all of the festivities, the Golden Knights gave every fan in attendance a limited edition Alex Pietrangelo bobblehead. The game itself was not a fun one for the fans in general as the heavily favored Knights ended up losing to the Devils by a final score of 3-2.
The second game of the week was a rematch of the 2018 Stanley Cup Final and a rivalry matchup between Washington and Vegas. This was the only win of the week for the Golden Knights as they won the game in overtime 4-3 with an amazing goal by defenseman Shea Theodore. As for the fan appreciation aspect, one lucky fan won a year’s supply of flowers as a contestant for one of their in-game promotions.
The last game of the week was a rivalry matchup against the San Jose Sharks. Every fan in attendance was given their very own Knight Light as the giveaway promotion for the game. The fans were also treated to another classic game as the Knights had a 4-2 lead with under 2 minutes left in the game and that’s when everything went south for the Knights. The Sharks scored two goals with the goalie pulled including a buzzer-beater goal to send the game into overtime. In the overtime period, the Knights were unable to take advantage of a late powerplay in the period to win the game and eventually lost to the Sharks in a shootout.
Overall, it was a very disappointing fan appreciation week in terms of the win/loss record, but the fans were able to see some great games and got some great items for attending the games. With the rough week, however, the Knights’ playoff hopes have really dwindled and the fans’ last experience of this team at home possibly will be the blown lead against their rivals the Sharks and something they have to deal with until next October when the hopes for the team comes back.
