July Hip-Hop Review

For the month of July we had the luck of listening to DJ Mustard’s album, Mustard. The album had a west coast vibe with the intro taking me back to 90s r&b, sounding a little like the band Boys to Men. Although I didn’t like One Take Jay’s rapping, which sounds like Rapper Blueface, the intro was still a great song to vibe to. Mustard has feature artist like Roddy Rich and the late great Nipsey Hussle. The best song in my opinion to listen to is, “Perfect Ten.”

Chance the Rapper released his album called, “The Big Day.” Which received mixed reactions from a lot of people. For me, it was not as good his previous album, Acid Drop, and the wait for his music was too long, so I understand why people are upset. If i had to pick the best song on the album it would be Slide Around with Lil Durk and Nicki Minaj. The beat kept me listening but the lyrics not so much.
Those were the two albums that I focused on in the month of July.
