Dr. Watson was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. She graduated from the University of Kansas with a bachelor’s degree in African and African American Studies and a minor in philosophy. She then pursued a Master’s in Higher Education Administration and Adult Education at the University of Missouri at Saint Louis. She later completed her Doctorate in Educational Leadership at Northern Kentucky University. Dr. Watson has been in higher education for 14 years.
She began her career in housing and residential life and student conduct. In the last six years she has served in senior leadership roles with a portfolio to include student activities, student conduct, and student diversity. Prior to coming to UNLV, Dr. Watson served as the Associate Dean of Students in the Dean of Student Office a Illinois State University in Normal, Illinois. Prior to that she was the Dean of Students at the University of Pikeville in Pikeville, Kentucky.
Dr. Watson came to UNLV in November 2018 as an Associate Vice President where she currently serves in Campus Life. Her areas of campus responsibility include but are not limited to: Student involvement and Activities, Service Learning & Leadership, Housing and Residential Life, Student Diversity and Social Justice, Campus Recreational Services and Facilities, and the Student Union & Event Services.
Dr. Watson resides in Henderson, Nevada. She is a member of the Henderson chapter of Psi Upsilon Omega of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated. In her past time, she loves to travel, participate in off road as well as water sports, and shopping.
